Two drivers die after car crash near Chesterton Windmill, Harbury

A 41-year-old Rugby man was killed in smash on the Fosse Way near Leamington.
Police said the unnamed man died at the scene after his Volkswagen Polo crashed with a Honda Civic at the junction of the Fosse and Windmill Hill, near Chesterton, shortly after 9am yesterday (Wednesday).
The driver of the Civic, an 81-year-old Stratford man, was taken to University Hospital in Coventry but died later in the morning despite attempts to save him.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found two cars that had been in collision. Both cars were carrying single occupants at the time of the incident..................more

Double fatality following a road traffic collision near to Leamington Spa

Inc: 67 of April 20 2011

Two people died this morning following a road traffic collision near to Leamington Spa.

The collision occurred at approximately 9.10 am on the B4455 Fosseway, on the overbridge of the M40 near to Windmill Hill Lane.

Two vehicles were involved a red Honda Civic saloon and a red Volkswagen Polo saloon.

The driver of the Polo, a 41 year old man from Rugby died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, an 81 year old man from the Stratford area was taken to the University Hospital at Coventry, where he was treated for leg and chest injuries. He died later in the morning.

Fatal collision on the Fosseway - Police name the two men who died

Inc: no 67 of April 20 2011

The men who died following the fatal collision on the Fosseway near to Leamington Spa on Wednesday April 20, have been named by police.

They were:

Mr Michael Peter Warren, aged 81 of Staple Hill, Wellesbourne, Warwickshire

Mr Ronald Michael G Allford, aged 42 of Staverley Way, Rugby, Warwickshire

The collision occurred at 9.10 am. on the M40 overbridge on the B4455 Fosseway, near to Windmill Hill Lane.

Mr Warren was driving a red Honda Civic and was travelling north on the Fosseway. Mr Allford was driving a red Volkswagen Polo and was travelling south on the Fosseway.


A third vehicle was involved in the collision, a silver Ford Focus mpv that was travelling north on the Fosseway. The driver, a 61 year old man from Harbury was uninjured.

Police investigating the incident continue to appeal for witnesses.
