American tend to form lynch mobs very easily. The Salem Witch Trials, the Committee for Un-American Activities and the Islamophobe axis of evil spring to mind.
Now, with mid term elections to hand, BP and Tony Hayward are being unfairly attacked by American politicians and the American press.
Look at the Torrey Canyon disaster, the Bhopal disaster and very many oil spills in the Niger Delta and you find corporate America striving to avoid compensation for the results of their actions.
Compare and contrast that with BP and Tony Hayward who have been contrite and humble. And BP are paying far, far more in compensation than the law requires. Even though they have yet to be found at fault by due process.
