i feel sorry for kids growing up in the villages now, with all this health and safety legislation all you here nowdays is - dont do this cause this could happen and dont do this cause there is too much risk. blah blah
Are kids are being wrapped up in cotton wool there is no sense of adventure anymore which is what part of growing up is all about. Ok there are risks involved with something like tombstoning, but i remember growing up and jumping into lakes (tombstoning?) and running round the quarries exploring things, and to this day they are some of the fondest memories i have. The quarries and lakes were exciting for someone growing up they helped you look out for one another, and above all they gave me and my friends a sense of independance somewhere you could go and experince the real world and its perceived dangers without being wrapped up in cotton wool i really believe that has made me a wiser and safer person in adulthood !
Finally, tresspassing ? the quarries are abandoned and have been for the past 30 years, people should be entitled to walk across the land which has been part of the villages history for the past 150 years, long may it reamin this way !
